Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th of 1996 in Stavanger and known professionally as Aurora often stylized in uppercase in the form of AURORA is an Norwegian music producer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. She's recorded a variety of well-known songs as covers, like Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the group Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that are widely loved. Katy Perry shared a tweet in which Perry promoted her song Runaway. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft and being amazed by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music, not as work or for a passion and as a way to grow. To achieve this, she began writing new compositions. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with a love for Bjork's style. Her mother was supportive of her performing her music publicly, not so that she could achieve fame, but rather to let others know that they matter and what they can do to make a difference in the world. She started playing piano when she was only six and was writing her first song by the time she was nine. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family members until she turned fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. She claims that she simply loves writing music. Music to her is the only way to feel anything.
