Katarina Witt began to ice skate at the age five. Her talent soon were evident and she was accepted to Karl-Marx-Stadt's school for special needs. She got to know Jutta Muller in this school. Witt was able to make her mark by finishing second at the 1982 World Championships, held in Copenhagen. Since then, Witt's grace and beauty have captivated all the attention of people. Olympic success Katarina Wit was awarded gold medals in women's ice skating at Sarajevo Winter Games 1984. Sarajevo Winter Games 1984 after a fiercely competitive competition.
